Problem is that is a very difficult concept to comprehend without understanding the roles of justification, sanctification, glorification, repentance, self denial, regeneration and so on. Many religions such as Catholicism are works based and trying to convince a Catholic otherwise is a major undertaking. James 2:14, 24 is widely misunderstood and usually the first verse a Catholic will produce to prove their belief in Faith & Works being needed for salvation. It’s hard enough just to explain what “works” are to many.
